Elisa e Marcela is the true story about a Galician couple that married in 1901. What’s particular about these two common teachers is that Elisa adopted the identity of Mario, a man, to marry this woman, Marcela. Unfortunately, people found out and the case made it to the newspapers, which is why we know about them today.
Unearthed and reconstructed from bits of the press of the time, it’s a tale of love and freedom, a story that deserves to be more widely known.
